Pick Moxo if your clients should work inside a branded portal with e-signatures, payments and scheduling, and you are happy to buy through a demo on an annual contract from $5,000 a year. Pick Floowed if you want to start today, self-serve from $100 a month, with your own rules deciding each case and the work running across your existing systems.
Both start from the same idea: a business process is a case with several people in it, inside and outside your firm, and a human stays accountable for the calls that matter. They differ on where the work happens, who decides, and how you buy. Every price and limit below was checked on the vendor's own site at the time of writing.

What Moxo is, and what it does well
Moxo's homepage headline is "Orchestrate complex business operations", and its line on AI is "Humans decide. AI executes." In practice, a Moxo flow is built from human actions (approvals, forms, e-signatures, file requests, payments, checklists and more) plus AI utilities that extract, write, summarise and translate. On its higher plans, Agent Foundry adds Automation, Review, Prepare and Advise agents, supervisor agents and the option to bring your own model or agent.
Moxo's standout is the external experience. Clients, vendors and partners each get a portal branded with your logo and colours, and they open it from a secure link with no account, password or download. Inside, they can upload documents, fill in forms, sign, pay, book a meeting and message your team, and Moxo can place an AI assistant in each portal to answer status questions.
Moxo also carries what regulated buyers ask for: SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3, GDPR compliance, a 7+ year audit trail, SAML SSO, role-based access, and private cloud, multi-tenant or on-premises deployment. Named customers include Savills, Procore, FIS and BNP Paribas.
Best for: firms whose clients expect a polished, branded place to sign, upload and pay, and who buy software through a procurement process.
Pricing shape: Team at $5,000 a year with 100 flows, $100 of AI and unlimited seats. Scale (500 flows, $500 of AI) and Enterprise (unlimited flows) are custom quotes. Every plan's button is "Book a demo".
One detail worth checking before you buy: on Moxo's pricing page, business rules, branching, loops, triggers, webhooks, REST APIs, a custom portal domain, the audit log and the AI agents sit in Scale, not Team.
What Floowed is, and what it does well
Floowed runs a repeatable business operation from first request to outcome. Every case moves through five stages: Gather, Interpret, Chase, Decide, Act. Interpret, Chase and Decide circle until the case is ready. An agent finishes a task. Floowed finishes the case.
The decision belongs to your rules. Floowed holds them in a deterministic business rules engine as an explicit, versioned object, and you can replay a rule change on past cases before it goes live. The AI reads, extracts, drafts and chases; it does not decide. You choose how much it closes on its own: every case, only routine ones, or none.
When something is missing, Floowed asks whoever owes it, waits, and resumes on the answer; once decided, it writes the outcome into your systems. Every case keeps a full record: what was read, who was asked, which rule and version decided it, and what was written where.
You describe the operation in Slack, Microsoft Teams or the Floowed Dashboard and it is live in minutes, with no IT project. Cases also arrive by email, upload, API and MCP, and Floowed routes across frontier, open-weight and private models on cost, latency and data residency.
Best for: teams that want rules they can read, test and version, work that lands in the systems they already run, and a price they can start on today.
Pricing shape: credits, not seats. Free: $80 of credits, no card, no sales call, never expire. Team: from $100 a month for 10,000 credits, one shared pool, every feature and integration included, cancel any month. See pricing.
Where Moxo is the better choice
Pick it if:
- Your client experience is the product. A branded portal where clients sign, pay and book meetings in one place (with a custom domain on Scale) is something Moxo does and Floowed does not.
- You need e-signatures and payments built in. Both are included on Moxo's Team plan. With Floowed you would connect the tools you already use for those, such as DocuSign for signatures.
- Procurement wants on-premises or private cloud. Moxo offers both. Floowed can route work to private models for data residency; if you need on-premises, ask us what we support before you choose.
- You want a vendor-led build. Moxo builds your trial around your processes, and its Enterprise plan includes a forward deployed engineer.
Where Floowed is the better choice: a self-serve Moxo alternative
Pick it if:
- You want to start without a sales call. Floowed is self-serve, with $80 of free credits and no card. Moxo's plans all start with a demo.
- Your volume or budget is small. Floowed starts at $100 a month, billed monthly. Moxo starts at $5,000 a year.
- You need rules on the entry plan. Floowed includes every feature on Team, including the rules engine. Moxo lists business rules and branching in Scale.
- You want to test a rule change before it goes live. Floowed replays a new rule version on past cases first.
- You want the work to land in your systems, not in a new place people log into. Floowed chases people in email, Slack and Teams and writes results into your existing tools.
Worked example: client due diligence at a corporate services provider
A corporate services provider takes on a new company client. The rules are getting stricter: in Singapore, the Corporate Service Providers Act 2024 sets customer due diligence duties for registered CSPs, and in the UK, identity checks can now run through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider. Before it can act, it must identify the directors and beneficial owners, collect their ID and proof of address, collect the company's registry extract and ownership chart, check everything against its own rules, and file a record it can show an inspector.
On Moxo, you build a flow template with a company details form, file requests for each document, a Review agent checking completeness (on Scale) and a compliance approval step. The client opens a branded portal from a link, uploads documents, signs the engagement letter and pays the set-up fee in one place, with reminders sent automatically. Moxo's portal page also lists identity checks among its actions.
On Floowed, you describe the operation in Slack or the Dashboard: "When a new client form arrives, collect ID and proof of address for every director and every owner at or above our ownership threshold, plus the registry extract; check them against our onboarding rules; chase anyone missing; send clean cases to the compliance officer and file the record in our practice system."
- Gather: the case opens from the intake email or form.
- Interpret: Floowed reads the registry extract and ownership chart, lists the individuals your rules say need checking, and extracts names, dates and expiry dates from each ID.
- Chase: it emails the client contact for the missing passport, then waits. When the file arrives, the case resumes.
- Decide: your rules (for example, "ID must be valid for at least three months" or "any owner at or above our threshold must be verified") decide whether the case is complete and which risk tier it falls into, and the case records which rule version made that call. Routine, low-risk cases can close automatically; anything else goes to a named reviewer.
- Act: Floowed writes the record to your practice system and document store, updates the client in your ledger (for example Xero), and posts the outcome to the team channel.
If your regulator changes a requirement, you edit the rule, replay it on last quarter's cases to see which clients would now need more documents, then publish the new version.
The client experience differs: Moxo's client sees a branded portal; Floowed's client gets a clear email request and can upload the file. Which is better depends on whether your clients value the portal or would rather just reply.
Moxo pricing vs Floowed pricing at a small team's volume
Assumptions: 100 onboarding cases a year (about 8 or 9 a month), each a standard case at 250 to 800 credits on Floowed, and each counted as one flow on Moxo. Moxo's pricing page does not define a flow; its help centre describes a flow as the process run inside a flow workspace created from a template, so we treat one onboarding as one flow. Confirm this with Moxo before you rely on it.
Floowed:
- Usage: 100 cases × 250 to 800 credits = 25,000 to 80,000 credits a year, or $250 to $800 of credits.
- Monthly peak: 9 cases × 800 credits = 7,200 credits, which fits inside the 10,000-credit Team plan.
- Plan cost: $100 × 12 months = $1,200 a year, with headroom for about 150 standard cases a year at the upper estimate.
- Heavy cases (1,500 to 4,000 credits) would mean $1,500 to $4,000 of credits a year, still at 1 cent per credit.
Moxo:
- Team plan: $5,000 a year, covering 100 flows and $100 of AI, which is $50 per flow at full use.
- Business rules, branching, agents, webhooks and the audit log are listed on Scale, which is a custom quote with 500 flows a year.
At this volume, Floowed costs roughly a quarter of Moxo's entry price. See the pricing page for how credits work. The gap narrows if you would use Moxo's built-in e-signatures and payments in place of tools you currently pay for, so add those savings to Moxo's side of the sum.
How to choose
- Decide where your clients should work. If a branded portal is part of what you sell, shortlist Moxo. If your clients would rather reply to an email, Floowed fits.
- Write down who decides. If you need written, testable rules that decide routine cases, check which Moxo plan includes business rules. Floowed includes them on every plan.
- Count your cases per year. Under about 150 standard cases, Floowed's $100 a month plan covers you. At 100 flows or more, check whether Moxo's Team cap fits.
- Check how you want to buy. Monthly and self-serve points to Floowed. Annual contract, security review and vendor-led rollout points to Moxo.
- Run one real case in each, including one awkward exception, and compare the effort.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a cheaper alternative to Moxo?
Yes. Floowed starts free with $80 of credits, then from $100 a month on its Team plan, billed monthly. For about 100 standard onboarding cases a year, that is around $1,200 a year against Moxo's $5,000 a year entry plan. You give up Moxo's branded portal, built-in e-signatures and payments.
What are the best Moxo alternatives?
It depends on what you use Moxo for. For processes that must be chased and decided on your rules, with a self-serve start, Floowed. For supplier and vendor intake specifically, see our supplier onboarding software comparison. For workflows that are mostly moving data between apps, a flow builder may be enough: see Zapier alternatives and Workato alternatives.
Does Floowed have a client portal?
No, not a branded one. Floowed reaches external parties where they already are: it chases them by email, Slack or Microsoft Teams, and they can upload the missing documents. If a branded portal where clients log in, sign and pay matters to you, Moxo is stronger there.
Can I try Floowed without a sales call?
Yes. Start free with $80 of credits, no card and no sales call. The credits never expire, and they cover roughly 10 to 30 standard cases.
Can I try Moxo for free?
Moxo offers a free trial on request. You fill in a form and Moxo builds the trial around the processes you run. There is no free plan on its pricing page.
Which is better for client onboarding at a corporate services provider?
If your clients expect a branded portal and you want e-signatures and payments in the same place, Moxo. If you want your due diligence rules to decide, tested on past cases before any change goes live, with results written into your practice system, Floowed. Read more on Floowed for accounting and corporate services.
